As comedian Tim Dillon said during his recent Netflix special, Denver is “one bad mayor away from being Portland.” And boy-oh-boy he wasn’t wrong!

The city’s latest knuckle-brained proposal involves using $2 million of COVID relief money to pay women, transgender, and non-binary homeless people up to $12,000 – no strings attached!

Gubernatorial candidate Heidi Ganahl appeared on Fox News’s The Ingraham Angle to talk about the absurdity of this proposal, noting that Denver already spends about $70,000 per homeless person and the problem has only tripled in recent years. She questions whether throwing more money at the problem will make any difference at all. It was a softball and Ganahl knocked it out of the park.

So, it came as a bit of surprise that when asked about whether he’d support taking this homeless payment program statewide, Gov. Jared Polis declined to comment! For whatever reason, he and his team perceive this as a political hot potato, which is hilarious because even though we haven’t seen any specific polling asking voters whether they support using taxpayer money to give direct cash payments to transgender and non-binary homeless people, we have to imagine it’s not a winning issue.

Only in the cannabis smoke-filled back rooms of Democrat politics would there ever be any debate about opposing an idea as dumb as this one.
