Some reporters are hyper focused on the skin color of candidates in the Denver mayoral race, but voters want leaders to address the deteriorating state of 16th Street Mall Man, rampant open drug use, and the crime that comes with it.

With the holiday season in full swing, one resident identified only as Jimmy hopped aboard the free mall bus to the skating rink, only to confront open drug use on the bus and mall.

Jimmy was almost assaulted in the same manner of a 9News reporter, with bear spray, that resulted in the shooting death of the sprayer by a 9News security guard, PeakNation™ will most certainly recall.

Jimmy told Fox31 the bus driver took care of the onboard drug use, but when he stepped off the bus, he encountered more drug use and objected to it.

“These guys blew a cloud of smoke. I told them, ‘Hey man, I’m breathing that in,’ and they started cussing at me, they were threatening me and told me to leave,” he said.

When Jimmy took out his cell phone to record the activity, things escalated.

“They got pepper spray, bear spray, and they sprayed it, but the wind had blew it back on them,” he said.

Just because Fentanyl is decriminalized, marijuana is legal and hallucinogenic drugs soon will be, 16th Street Mall Man thinks he can just do drugs right there on the sidewalk and aboard public transportation like it’s legal or something.

Fox31 reported nearly 180 assaults and injuries were reported by RTD in 2021 and the first two months of this year, almost a third of those on the Colfax routes.

In 2020, the free mall ride had the second highest number of assaults.

The candidates for Denver mayor, all 3,000 of them, should be asked about these incidents and explain to voters why there is such open use of drugs on the streets that leads to the abuse of their citizenry and private property.

Go ahead, we’ll wait.
