Millions of migrants illegally crossing the southern border have flooded the country since President Biden took office, but only 600 have made their way recently to Denver, advocates say.

Warnings to Gov. Polis’s office to prepare for an impending influx have gone unheeded.

So as migrants continue to take up hundreds of emergency shelter beds, the next step is to beg FEMA to set up shelters and house them here somewhere, advocate Jennifer Piper told the Greeley Tribune.

For several months, Colorado advocates met with local and state officials about the crisis who heard their concerns, but before this past week, Piper said city leadership wasn’t sure how many migrants to expect, and top state leadership didn’t take them seriously aside from those working in the Office of New Americans.

A spokesperson for Gov. Jared Polis’ office did not return a request for comment Tuesday afternoon.

The Tribune also confirmed Peak’s recent reporting that the migrants are not bused here by politicians, but through private organizations.

PeakNation™ will recall U.S. Sen. John Hickenlooper first blamed Republicans for the first reported arrival of migrants in Denver, before welcoming them and encouraging even more to join them.

The arrival of migrants seems to have been expected by everyone except our elected Democrat officials, most of whom are just as responsible by supporting opening borders to … well … everyone.

Leading the “I told you so” bandwagon is The Gazette, which predicted in a Sunday editorial the influx will certainly stress socials services and add to the Front Range landscape of homeless camps.

The Gazette has discussed this eventuality with Gov. Jared Polis and other ranking and wannabe Colorado politicians. Each responded as if this were a hypothetical bridge, one we may conceivably cross in the distant future. No one offered a plan. None had given it much thought.

We predicted imminent busloads of immigrants. Colorado communities, most notably Denver, asked for it and would get what they wanted.

The progressives have signaled their virtue and welcomed the invasion of millions of migrants across our unguarded borders.

So they had best come up with a plan to deal with those ramification here in Colorado. And quickly.
