Public school teacher Priscilla Rahn is stepping down from her position as vice chair of the Colorado Republican Party to run for a seat on the Douglas County Commission.

This is Rahn’s second term serving as party vice chair, which she says requires 110% of her time.

In her resignation letter, Rahn said:

“I have worked aggressively to improve the well-being and quality of life of Coloradans and to build relationships with diverse communities in order to support and grow our big tent,” Rahn said, adding, “I hope the state party will continue to support Republican candidates and engage in community outreach.”

By all means, the Republican Party should support Republican candidates. We’re just saying.

Rahn already has experience with Douglas County issues, having served on the planning commission for two years. She was elected chairman of the committee earlier this year.

Incumbent Republican Commissioner Lora Thomas, who currently serves on the District III seat covering northwestern Douglas County including Highlands Ranch, is term limited, Colorado Politics reports.

Rahn has a compelling personal story as the daughter of a decorated Vietnam War veteran, and her mother was orphaned during the Korean War.

“I honor his legacy by fighting to preserve the America he served,” Rahn says on her website.

“My parents raised me to have faith in God, cherish freedom, and condemn communism, and instilled in me a hard-work ethic and integrity. I know firsthand the importance of family and financial responsibility,” Rahn said.

The state central committee of the Colorado Republican Party will hold a special election later this summer to replace Rahn.
