An unprecedented trial to throw a former president of the United States off the ballot for reelection is set to begin in Colorado this week based on accusations he was the mastermind of a failed insurrection of unarmed Capitol protestors including these guys.

The accusation has yet to be proven in a court of law, but that’s beside the point of angry Democrats who are determined to block Donald Trump from another term in office.

Because Trump insists the 2020 election was rigged against him, Democrats argue the 2024 election should also be rigged against him. Or something like that.

Colorado District Judge Sarah Wallace isn’t going to wait until Trump is convicted of one of the nearly 100 counts of wrongdoing in four other courts.

CNN reports Wallace said the Colorado trial “will focus on several key questions, including whether the events of January 6 ‘constituted an insurrection’ and whether Trump ‘engaged’ in insurrection.”

Trump has already pleaded not guilty to state and federal charges related to the 2020 election, and his lawyers argue this lawsuit as “stretching the law beyond recognition.”

The Colorado case is expected to be fought all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court.
