When Secretary of State Jena Griswold claims to be all about protecting Democracy and free and fair elections, what she means is, controlling who is even allowed to run for office.

For example, the only requirements to be governor in Colorado are U.S. citizenship, state residency for at least two years, and the person must be at least 30 years old.

Yet Griswold wants to create more qualifications and has Republicans in her crosshairs.

First it was Donald Trump, now it’s his supporters.

Griswold announced this week she plans to crack down on so-called fake elector schemes, which may or may not be a real thing.

Beyond Democrat accusations and media reports, it’s hard to tell whether these are cases of confused voters, or grand conspiracies worthy of Alex Jones’ attention.

Flanked by state Democrat lawmakers, Griswold says they plan to bar anyone from holding office in Colorado if they are convicted under this new law to conspire to be a fake elector in a national election.

Besides Democrat operatives, we’re willing to bet not a single voter in the state has the slightest clue how to fake a slate of electoral college voters or would even try to do such a thing.

What’s chilling about Griswold’s despotic actions as the state’s chief election officer is her growing penchant for deciding who can and cannot run for office.

Last time we checked that’s still up to the voters in a democracy.
