Colorado U.S. Sen. Mike Bennet made a stunning announcement on Fox News Sunday that he, a Democrat, disagreed with President Biden’s action to block needed new liquified natural gas LNG export projects.

Bennet said Biden’s decision is short-sighted, and he sounded positively Republican about the U.S. maintaining its strength through continued development of natural resources.

“I actually don’t support what President Biden is doing there,” Bennet said. “I think it’s been very important for American liquified natural gas to replace the natural gas that Russia was sending to Europe. I think it’s important for us to have the benefit of selling the natural gas versus other countries like Qatar in this world. And so, I believe one of the United States’ massive strategic strengths is our energy, our clean energy and our fossil fuels.”

Egad!

Colorado Progressives will be shocked and appalled to hear a Democrat practically endorsing the destruction of the planet by permitting the use of demonic fossil fuels.

What must Bennet think then about his fellow Democrats back here in the state legislature proposing to end all new energy production in Colorado by 2030 and cutting annual drilling activities by nearly half?

The media should probably ask him about that.

We’d also like to know if Bennet really support U.S. production of energy and fossil fuels, or only the energy that’s not produced in Colorado?

As Bennet acknowledged, Europe could sure use some of Colorado’s natural gas right now.

It’s interesting how Colorado Dems are all for protecting Europe and sending billions overseas to kill Russians, but they draw the line at producing energy to heat homes and protect Europeans from freezing to death.

The Wall Street Journal reports that Biden’s “decision to halt new export terminals follows an intense campaign by environmental groups funded by wealthy contributors.”

And it’s an election year, for Biden.

Bennet has the safety net to offer his suspect support fossil fuels, as he’s not up for reelection until 2029, when his supporters will have forgotten or forgiven him for backing reliable energy.
