Gov. Polis took gaslighting to a whole new level — and then beyond to a parallel universe — in statements this week about the chaos at the border and working with President Biden to do something about it.

Polis appeared on Fox News to discuss a White House meeting between Biden and the nation’s governors, in which Biden read straight from the teleprompter and took only a few scripted questions.

Or as Polis described it, Biden “spoke to us from the heart. I think he (it) was a good, free ranging discussion with the president.”

We imagine all discussions with Biden these days are “free-ranging,” which is a nicer term for “rambling without purpose or meaning.

Polis shared this snippet of his comments on X that brought down a firestorm of criticism for his rank hypocrisy:

Here’s Polis’s comments that were cut from the clip:

“It was really an example of how we need to listen to one another better because this isn’t a Democratic or Republican challenge. It’s an American challenge. We need to secure the border, whether that’s from the mayor of Denver or whether that’s the governor of Oklahoma or Colorado.”

People are entering illegally, and we failed to lock down that southern border, he added, while acknowledging the border needs to be secured to make America safer.

Or as Kyle Clark at 9News would say, make us anti-migrant.

Here’s the full interview with Polis from Fox News Sunday:

Let’s punch through and parse some of Polis’s responses that came straight from Democrat talking points.

More border patrol means more agents to process more asylum seekers, just as more money in general means more cash for courts to process more migrants faster into the workforce.

The Biden administration so far has imported about seven million migrants who are here illegally, have someday maybe legal status, along with totally legal folks mixed in for good measure.

Polis acknowledged the border is wide open, poses a threat, is not a partisan issue, but an American issue.

And yet Democrats like Polis keep punting their “solution” to House Republicans when Biden has had the power all along to undo his mess as well as keep asylum seekers in Mexico until their claim is confirmed.

As for security, Polis put Coloradans at risk when he signed a law that took effect last month banning local governments from jailing illegal immigrants for federal immigration officers.

Colorado Politics reported:

Opponents argued that the bill would incentivize undocumented immigrants and asylum seekers to come to Colorado, saying the state is unable to accommodate them.

Opponents were right.

Polis did some fast talking this week because he sees the political writing on the wall.

Voters are frustrated with the many problems that result from open border policies, including drug smuggling and deaths, human smuggling, sex trafficking, crime, homelessness, the increased cost of government for housing, food, education, and transportation out of Denver to be someone else’s problem.

Voters are also getting annoyed at politicians who keep passing the buck and insisting all the solutions are out of their control.

Come election day, they’re going to vote for candidates they believe will take action, not the Democrats whining for someone else to do something.
