The battle for Colorado’s 8th Congressional seat isn’t looking good for Democrats now that incumbent U.S. Rep. Yadira Caraveo has landed on Roll Call’s Top 10 most vulnerable seats this election season in the House.

The polls show the race between Caraveo and GOP challenger Gabe Evans has been tighter than Kyle Clark’s lips on a Democrat’s ass.

As the clock ticks down to just a week before the ballots are counted, Roll Call lists Caraveo as the third most vulnerable Democrat running for the House, noting she only won by less than a percentage point in 2022.

From the report:

This year, she faces Republican state Rep. Gabe Evans, who served as a Black Hawk helicopter pilot and police lieutenant. Both Caraveo and Evans are of Mexican American heritage and immigration has emerged as a key flashpoint.

Yet it’s not just the immigration crisis, it’s also high crime rates and Fentanyl deaths that continue to escalate in Colorado that’s become a problem for the freshman lawmaker, said Delanie Bomar, spokeswoman for the National Republican Congressional Committee.

“Yadira Caraveo is an open-border extremist who directly caused the current crime, border, and fentanyl crises facing Coloradans. It’s no surprise voters are looking for a change, and Army helicopter pilot and Arvada police officer Gabe Evans is the man for the job,” Bomar said.

The rankings were based on information from party insiders and interest groups, district dynamics, polling and campaign finances.
