Sources tell the Peak that Congressman Scott Tipton raised at least $375,000 in the first fundraising quarter of 2012. That represents a major turnaround in what had previously been a lackluster fundraising effort by Tipton.
His competitor, Rep. Sal Pace (D-Urination) raised $280,000 in the same period.
Last quarter, Pace raised $208,000 to Tipton's $180,000, worrying Tipton supporters.
With Tipton's strong showing this quarter, beating Pace by $100,000, it will be the Pace supporters worrying about momentum moving in the wrong direction.
Between Joe Coors Jr raising $450,000 and Mike Coffman raising $532,000 this quarter, it is clear Republican donors are fired up and ready to go.
“Vulnerable freshman Rethug loser sucks up resources from other races” would be a more accurate headline.
Now, this IS good news for Tipton, but you don’t have to perjure yourselves when you cover this stuff.
“…there’s no serious reason to believe Coors will unseat Perlmutter…”
Eddy’s such a blue collar guy isn’t he? He lives in the same country club as Coors and is a multi-millionaire Lexus driving lawyer. Oh he’s a corporate lawyer too by the way, is that relevant?
Dumb statements do not an argument make.
If you honestly and objectively believe (as opposed to feverishly hope) that Coors can take down Perlmutter, you should make a case. Sure, that’s a nice haul Joe made – until you consider that he’s likely self-funding.
Aristotle is correct in his statement that Tipton is in trouble… with Conservative voters. And there are four reasons for that. Two of those reasons are Tipton’s own fault. The third he probably can’t help and the fourth is a result of the other three. First are his repeated ethics violations. Second is his voting record (he voted to advance NDAA (indefinite detention without trial) and he also voted for HR 347 (protest/trespass law) Third, Tipton simply cannot help himself; he is NOT a conservative.
And last but not least Tipton is in trouble because there is an alternative, Conservative choice; (his opponent) Independent candidate Tisha Casida. And all the Republican money in the world won’t change any of those facts.
