Last Friday, former Senate President John Morse took to the airwaves of CNN’s Crossfire in a strangely smug performance to spin away his historic loss in the recall election.
He followed in the footsteps of his fellow recalled Senator, Angela Giron, who melted down on CNN only a day earlier.
During the debate — which was chock full of incorrect facts from nearly everyone on the show — John Morse makes a rather stark admission. He tells host S.E. Cupp that the magazine ban, which limited magazines to 15 rounds and banned any magazines that could be converted to hold more than 15, was entirely “arbitrary.”
Transcript:
S.E. Cupp: Senator Morse, your bill, the bill that we’re talking about, that passed, limits magazine capacities to 15 rounds and bans magazines that are easily convertible, yes? Why 15? That sounds pretty arbitrary to me.
John Morse: And certainly it is arbitrary. It was just the thought that was negotiated. It started at 10. It actually wasn’t my bill, just for the record. [Peak emphasis]
Cupp: You co-sponsored it.
Morse: It was eventually negotiated up to 15. Yes, I eventually co-sponsored it. Yes, that’s right. It was negotiated up to 15 in an effort to get the gun manufacturer Magpul that was in the state and objecting. To get them on board. That didn’t work. And so we actually gave up 5 rounds for the heck of it.
We’ve clipped the relevant section for our readers. Roll the tape:
We bet Mike Bloomberg and his fellow gun control donors are pumped that they dropped millions defending a politician who was recalled in part over his support of a self-professed “arbitrary” law.

And here I thought it was because the Colorado Springs businessman who was shot when his pawn business was invaded by armed robbers who tried to kill him. He testified that he fought back and barely survived thanks to his 15 round pistol mag.

"Gave up five rounds." On an unconstitutional law. Psh. Apparently these people just totally ignore the fact that the entire POINT of the Second Amendment, besides not infringing on our right to keep and bear arms, is for our duty as a militia. Every time John W. Hickenlooper says they totally respected the Second Amendment, I fall out of my chair. What militia on this PLANET uses 7, 10, or 15 round magazines when EVERY enemy a militia may be called against uses 30? Respect the Second Amendment? It was totally VIOLATED! And that's why Morsey-boy is unemployed today.
John Morse (and Angela, too) are the very face of arrogance and "Tyranny of the Majority". When this party completely dominates a state, they impose their self-centered agenda on the People. The recalls have disrupted their fantasy land, and they simply can't deal with it. They are unable to feel contrite, but have to blame any thing and any body other than themselves. These recalls are the bellwether events to return Colorado to a free state. In other words, "Throw the Bums out!"
"And so we actually gave up 5 rounds for the heck of it."
thats the attitude that led to your removal ass-clown!!
but, but, doesnt 5 more rounds make it an even more dangerous magazine?? oh, thats right, it was an attempt to keep jobs in Colorado, not for safety………..
Glad we have politicians who research issues and know the ins and outs of everything before they cast their votes. Oh wait…
Indeed, and they didn't make a 15 round magazine at the time either.
Morse tries to make it Magpul's fault that he negotiated up to 15? Magpul wasn't negotiating the number of rounds. Morse is just lying more and more. But at least he admits that the number was utterly arbitrary.
The bill was about putting the thumb in the eye of gun owners – it had no other purpose.
Mr. Morse….

Of course it is "arbitrary". The correct number would be 1.
And, muzzle loaders only.
Amazing how truth works its way to the light!
Magpul makes magazines which can hold 20, 30, 40 rounds and probably more. Why would they agree to a law which would hurt their business?
Poor baby.
