Last week, we reported that Democratic Party officials were begging Jeff Bridges, son of rich guy Rutt Bridges, to run against so-far unbeatable U.S. Rep. Mike Coffman’s seat in the Sixth Congressional District.  Apparently, these party officials are having some problems – some problems with the ladies, that is.

A coven of women, led by the self-proclaimed dean of the Colorado Delegation, U.S. Rep. Diana DeGette is pushing hard for Democrat Senate President State Senator Morgan Carroll to be the anointed candidate in the Sixth.  Of course, DeGette would know what it’s like to be shoved out of the way for a rich guy for a political spot (see: Michael Bennet, U.S. Senate). Apparently, this crew, which also includes the Blueflower Fund, is pledging resources to make her the candidate.  After Democratic Party Chair Rick Palacio’s dust up with women this Spring, when he appointed a nearly all-male crew to rig his chairman’s election, another anti-woman move would be politically risky.

What’s a guy to do?

Sources say that Palacio is trying to convince Bridges the Younger to run in State House District 3, Daniel Kagan’s seat as Kagan is planning to run for term-limited State Senator Linda Newell’s seat.  Apparently, the powers that be are suggesting that Bridges move into HD3 for the time being, you remember, from Manhattan. Honestly, a move from Manhattan to Cherry Hills Village is probably less jarring than a move from New York City to Aurora.  That way Bridges has options.  If Carroll runs against Coffman, Bridges runs for HD3 and serves one term before being the heir apparent to the CD6 seat.  Apparently, Dems are assuming Bridges would win in HD3 and Carroll loses the Sixth.  But, if Carroll bails, Bridges runs for CD6.

Of course, this is all rumor and conjecture, but conservatives everywhere are salivating at the idea that Morgan Carroll would run in CD6.  Carroll has made a big splash about wanting the seat, including allegedly “shadowing” U.S. Rep. Jared Polis.  To that we say, please carry on.  If she wants to represent this district, the second richest man in the U.S. Congress is probably the last person she should be taking advice from.  But, who are we to stand in the way?
