A new survey of law enforcement officers on the issue of gun control drastically undercuts Governor Hickenlooper’s argument that he signed the bills in the name of public safety.
Those engaged in the daily fight against violent crime appear to disagree vehemently with Hickenlooper’s gun grab argument.
From the survey summary:
In March, PoliceOne conducted the most comprehensive survey ever of American law enforcement officers’ opinions on the topic gripping the nation’s attention in recent weeks: gun control.
More than 15,000 verified law enforcement professionals took part in the survey, which aimed to bring together the thoughts and opinions of the only professional group devoted to limiting and defeating gun violence as part of their sworn responsibility.
Top Line Takeaways
Breaking down the results, it’s important to note that 70 percent of respondents are field-level law enforcers — those who are face-to-face in the fight against violent crime on a daily basis — not office-bound, non-sworn administrators or perpetually-campaigning elected officials.
It’s the first question in particular that sticks out to us, seeing that it concerns a magazine ban similar to the one Hickenlooper signed into law recently. Apparently the actual experts on gun violence believe the law will do all of zero and zilch to actually reduce violent crime.
That about lines up with how virtually every Colorado Sheriff in Colorado feels about the magazine ban, according to a memo released by their organization, the non-partisan County Sheriffs of Colorado.
Seeing that 37 of Colorado’s Sheriffs are suing the state over the mag ban, this could end up being a very useful exhibit in the case. After all, expert testimony counts for something in court, even if it didn’t in the Colorado Legislature.
Only a fool would think that disarming the honest law abiding individual will reduce gun violence. Such an act is an invitation for criminals to attack these individuals. Reference the 2007 FBI study released in 2008. Out of 800 offenders that were in armed confrontations with police 100 percent of them did not care about or wish to obey any law, much less, gun laws. To believe that criminals care about laws is……..
Cont. Mayors, not the ones affected the ban.
So what you mean is those professionals who answer to the people of their jurisdiction, are the ones who listen to them. The major cities are non-elected, and follow the lead of their appointing
So, we can forgive Congresswoman DeGette because she is a simple idiot. But, Hickenlooper is smart, political, dishonest, and dishonorable.
Almost 15,000 respondents… all law enforcement officers… the majority from departments of over 500 officers. Podunks, right? No response Mr. Rosvold? Because you know more about what would and would not impact violent crime on the streets, right? More than 15,000 officers. Tell me… what is it about facts that makes them so damned terrifying to liberals? Typical lefty… facts don't support your position, so just lie and start calling names. You must be so proud.
Brilliant post. So, what percentage of violent crime is perpetrated with long guns / high capacity magazines? Per the testimony of the Police Forensic Scientist in the Bridgeport, Connecticut hearings… 1.5%. Or I could just talk to my father who is a retired LA County Sheriff (yeah… I know… podunk town), or one of my son's football coaches who is a current LA County Sheriff… they both admit banning high capacity mags won't do squat and they don't support taking these options away from law abiding citizens.
But yeah… Police Forensic Scientist… Two LA County Sheriff's and the hundreds of officers they serve with… just a bunch of yokels.
Tard.
There is still hope..hopefully you see the same with his Puppet-Master and all their Pals and Pallettes!!!!
I once had a good opinion of this….puppet.
"Hickenlooper signed into law recently" should read "Hickenbloomsbitch signed into law recently".
Rob did you see the following survey? http://cnsnews.com/blog/gregory-gwyn-williams-jr/86-police-pros-say-proposed-gun-laws-wont-improve-or-could-hurt
Why would politicians let things like the opinions of experts (or their constituents) get in the way of their agenda? Recall Morse and a couple of others now, get rid of the rest in 2014.
OK! WHERE IS YOUR PROOF? WHY ARE YOU LYING! DIDN'T YOU READ THE WHOLE ARTICLE? ANOTHER LIBERAL HACK!
VOTERS! REMEMBER THIS AT THE NEXT ELECTION FOR GOVERNOR! BETTER YET, IMPEACH THE GOVERNOR OF COLORADO AND THOSE DEMOCRATS THAT PUSHED THESE LAWS UPON US!
Did you see the poll above? You should go look at the whole poll that was done. Before making an assertion like that. 15,000 law enforcement officers, Not just sheriffs.
If you ask law enforcement officials in any large city, and not podunk county sheriffs who are campaigning for future political positions, they'll tell you the opposite. They want background checks, a ban on large mags and assault rifles. No like you yokels.
Some people really do know how things work, they don't DeGette the facts.
Hickenlooper was just dancing to the tune played by his political masters back east. He could really give a tinker's damn about either the effectiveness of a law affecting only law-abiding Colorado citizens or what us local mundanes care about — the important thing is that he took orders like a good little trooper and spiked the ball in the end zone.
Let's hope the voters remember when elections come around.
No Hick for 2014…
