Less than a week after trying to convince the parents they could be trusted to be left alone for a weekend, the Connect for Health Colorado kids proved to be anything but responsible.
Like any good business would, C4HC decided the best way to make up for a lack of customers is to hike the product price. Because when people aren’t buying something in the first place, they’ll be sure to buy more of it when it’s more expensive. That’s sarcasm, folks.
Patty Fontneau, CEO for C4HC (and raise requester during disastrous roll out), was rejected this week when she asked for a 21% increase to the user fee attached to every plan sold in the Colorado Health Exchange. Health News Colorado explains how this is a direct result from a lack of enrollment in the program:
The most optimistic projections once predicted that as many as 204,000 Coloradans would have signed up for private health insurance by the end of this month. Mid-level projections called for about 133,000 while about 90,000 people have actually signed up so far.
Adding to President Obama’s politically-cynical retreat on actually enforcing his key signature piece of legislation, he now is allowing many Americans to keep the plan they like just long enough so when they storm the White House, he’ll be long gone. For Coloradans, it is undecided whether they will receive the same option:
Colorado Insurance Commissioner Marguerite Salazar could reject Obama’s ruling and force insurance carriers to sell only plans that comply with the Affordable Care Act. In fact, state law requires all health plans sold in Colorado, as of 2014, to be compliant.
Salazar said she hasn’t decided what to do yet.
“We are taking our time. We don’t have to do anything immediately,” said Salazar.
HA! PeakNation™ do we really think after the many times Salazar has shown herself to be a good Democrat stooge, she’ll allow another wave of cancellation letters to roll out in October right as Senator Mark “if you like your plan, you can keep your plan” Udall comes up for reelection?
Who are we kidding? Udall and his campaign are already in full crisis mode and it’s not even Spring. If Gardner defines himself before the jackals on the other side can, this election is a walk by Fall.
