Aurora City Council’s radical faction insisted on adding anti-Israeli language to a resolution intended to condemn Hamas and support Israel, because the world has turned upside down and some folks are okay defending the mass murder of Jews.

The resolution proposed by councilmember Francoise Bergan states the “City of Aurora explicitly condemns the unprovoked, violent terrorist attacks by Hamas on innocent Israeli victims.”

The resolution supports the pursuit of peace, and disavows antisemitism and violence against the Jewish people, and mourns the 1,400 lives lost in the initial days of the attack by Hamas and notes the historical significance of Israel and its importance to the global community.

But some members of council didn’t want the resolution to be about the victims. They want to instead support the race of the militant attackers as if all Palestinians agreed with the mass murder and rape of women, beheading of babies and burning children alive, and taking hundreds of hostages.

Those council members include socialist Juan Marcano, who is challenging Mike Coffman for the mayor’s seat in November, and fellow socialist Alison Coombs who is also up for reelection.

Both Marcano and Coombs disavowed the Denver Democrat Socialists of America for its wildly antisemitic statement on the attacks, and yet they tried to insert similar offense language in the Aurora resolution.

Also supporting those few Palestinians who agreed with the demonic attack on Israel were councilmembers Ruben Medina and Crystal Murillo.

Blessedly, their attempts to amend the resolution failed.

Mayor Mike Coffman said it’s important to stand “shoulder to shoulder with Muslim residents,” noting he often attends Friday prayers to show his support. “But the focus here I think is on the attacks on Israel.”

Exactly.

But Coombs wanted to condemn hate, discrimination, and prejudice against Palestinians while Marcano tried to slip in Islamophobia.

PeakNation™ will recall that Islamophobia, or fear of Muslims, is a term that was coined after the September 11 terrorist attacks because many Americans began to fear Muslims would launch another terrorist attack.

The irrational fear of Muslims and reporting them to the authorities for behavior that may or may not be suspicious was labeled Islamophobia.

The current problem in the Middle East is not one of irrational fear on behalf of Jews that Muslims will launch a terrorist attack.

They are literally still responding to the terrorist attack by radical Muslims of Hamas, which governs the Palestinian people.

If folks like Marcano and Coombs truly cared about the Palestinian people, they would do everything in their power to liberate them from the barbaric rule of Hamas that continues to put those people’s lives in danger.

Israel warned Palestinians for a week to move north away from the fighting that was about to happen before they moved into Gaza to rescue the 200 hostages.

Palestinian terrorists gave no such warning.

The resolution moves forward without the offensive amendments and will be voted on by the full council on Monday.
