After all the back and forth about the possibility of a special session, word around the watering hole is that it has become a forgone conclusion in the Governor’s office.
For not actually having any jurisdiction over state issues whatsoever, Rep. Jared Polis has managed to throw around some serious political weight at the Colorado Capitol. Our Democrat sources are saying that Polis underestimated what it was going to cost to get a fracking ban passed, and now he’s strong arming Hickenlooper into finding a legislative fix. The catch is that if Hickenlooper can save Polis the millions that Polis will commit a portion of that to Hickenlooper’s re-election.
There still isn’t enough bipartisan agreement to give Hick the political cover he needs to justify the expense of a special session, which is why he hasn’t announced one yet. But if all goes according to plan, Hick hopes to call lawmakers in for a June 9th start.
Who wants a special session? The Governor and Senator Udall. Why? It allows them to avoid having to take a stand on the various ballot measures. This is all about election politics and nothing to do with the safety of energy development. If there is a "deal"…you will see a repeat of these antics in 2016 guaranteed!
And the left pus moves on.
Why is that legal?
I wonder how much Jared's property tax bill will take to print.
Just more proof that if you have enough money, you can threaten an entire state into doing what you want them to do.
Just let us go to the polls …..sick of them overriding what the PEOPLE WANT…check any poll…people are against this BAN
So Polis perceives personal inconvenience but voted for Obamacare, a major catastrophe for many of us. I trust he lives cold and in the dark.
The only damage Polis could squawk about was the so-called view from his own massive carbon foot print home. Never mind the jobs needed here in Colorado. He and Hickenlooper are crawling all over each other trying to climb the political ladder.
Jared can't point to one case of damage caused by fracking. He just wants to ban it because it's the "Boulder thing to do." How about a driving ban Jared? Crickets…
