Arapahoe County Clerk Joan Lopez essentially has one job to do — count election results without partisan favor for any candidate.
This would be the same clerk who famously distributed a flier in August that read: “Registered? Great! Vote early and vote often.”
It’s like satire becomes reality.
I don’t care about running a non-partisan office for @ArapahoeCounty. I support candidates & run the IEC Hardcore Dems to get dems elected. Sucks if you’re a republican running in Arapahoe! #trustme @KContiforCO @NancySharpeAC @ElectJeffBaker @Nan_Jackson___ @flyboy743 pic.twitter.com/sWv9oMusxx

So it’s no wonder Lopez has come under scrutiny this week in counting the Aurora mayoral race, where her office reportedly rejected 576 ballots because signatures didn’t match on file, or where allegedly missing.
As of this morning, Mike Coffman’s lead had dwindled to 273 votes over Omar Montgomery.
But wait, there’s more!
Lopez was asked the simplest question ever, and floundered.
We asked Clerk Lopez if she can reassure the public that vote counting is being handled fairly and without partisanship. She fumbled for an answer before turning to look at a press aide off-camera. “I don’t know how to answer that,” Lopez said. #copolitics #9NEWS https://t.co/CAaScCmFJH

Here’s the video:
After @ArapahoeClerk released a flyer earlier this year encouraging people to “vote early and vote often” and reportedly gave Dems. a heads up before Reps. that ballots were being mailed, I asked Joan Lopez how she can assure doubters about fairness of election. #9news #HeyNext pic.twitter.com/2TLqoWXkBf

There’s only one answer, Lopez.
Yes, your answer should have been yes.
