Nearly two weeks after the actual Aurora mayoral election, the race is officially over with Omar Montgomery’s concession Monday to winner Mike Coffman.

Montgomery says he explored every possible option including legal actions or demands for a runoff, before settling on reality.

“We had some of the best statisticians, best legal minds in this particular area, and some of them came on to volunteer and (were) like ‘we want to see if there’s a path to victory,’” Montgomery said.

Montgomery’s path to victory was ultimately blocked by 215 votes that put Coffman in the lead.

Both candidates are calling for a review of ballot-mailing issues in Arapahoe and Adams Counties.
