John Hickenlooper flailed so wildly on the contentious issue of race, one might think the former governor thrilled to campaign on traditional western issues and participate by video in the Colorado Water Congress.

One would be wrong.

The Democrat’s campaign staff is sticking to their basement strategy and keeping the U.S. Senate candidate under tight control.

Hickenlooper is evading all things these days, whether it’s interaction with actual voters, questions from reporters, or the payment of his taxes.

Instead of participating live, Hickenlooper’s staff will upload a video of their candidate giving a canned statement on water.

Meanwhile, U.S. Sen. Cory Gardner will be online for the Aug. 25 event to deliver his address and take questions from the participants, because he’s not afraid to face the public like some other ethically challenged candidate of the Democrat persuasion previously mentioned.
