Micael Bennet and John Hickenlooper are sitting out their duties as U.S. Senate leaders while Russia invades Ukraine, turning their attention to more mundane matters that would shame even the most ordinary of statesmen.

Meanwhile, women’s history is in the making in Ukraine were they are celebrating #WomensHistoryMonth by abandoning their homes and huddling in train tunnels while the Russians drop bombs on their cities.

Following President Biden’s weak-kneed State of the Union address, Bennet’s response was a list of verbs that sounded more like the hokey pokey when you put your left foot in and shake it all about.

“As President Biden said, this is a moment for Americans to come together, stand up for democracy, and strengthen our economy to drive opportunity to all,” Bennet said.

Now Bennet is talking about climate change and Green New Dealism to secure his progressive base for reelection, when what he and Hickenlooper should be doing is shoring up America’s energy supply.

It is so past time for our senators to stop goofing around in bars and coffee shops and start acting like the statesmen Coloradans elected them to be.

If they can’t, well, Election Day is right around the corner.
