Never in the history of Colorado politics has an attack ad been unleashed in the campaign for Secretary of State.

That is, until Jena Griswold came along.

Now there’s a nasty ad running against Republican candidate Pam Anderson that is so nefarious, Shaun Boyd over at CBS4 News called it one of the most blatantly dishonest ads she’s ever seen.

Boyd rips into the attack ad in a fact check that calls out the claims as completely baseless, a complete distortion of Anderson’s position, a smear tactic, and absurd.

It’s the harshest media fact check against a Democrat PAC supporting a Democrat candidate we’ve ever seen.

For example, the ad claims Anderson is against voter access because she opposed how automatic voter registration was being used to wipe out the registration of eligible voters, while leaving ineligible voters on the rolls.

From Boyd’s report:

Anderson’s whole campaign has been built around removing politics from the office of Secretary of State and restoring faith in elections.

Bottom line, Pam Anderson is the opposite of what this ad wants you to believe she is. She is what Time magazine called a defender of democracy, the kind of candidate you would think a PAC called the Defend Democracy Fund would support.

The ad is so egregious, and yet that perfectly encapsulates how Griswold has run the Secretary of State’s office into the ground and sowed distrust among voters with her overtly political actions on everything she touches.

Even the inherently Democrat base of state employees are anxious to get rid of her and are quietly backing Anderson.

For her part, Anderson is calling on Griswold to denounce the pack of lies put forth by this mysterious dark money group supporting the Democrat incumbent.

Yeah Jena, will you denounce this ad?
