Judging candidates on how they would govern as opposed to how they look or identify seemed to be a radical idea among the radical left.

And yet when faced with the choice of reelecting a lesbian Latina or a Black gay man to represent District 9 in Denver, voters overwhelming sided with the candidate who was not a socialist.

Darrell Watson, a small business owner which by definition is capitalism, soundly defeated socialist Democrat Candi CdeBaca by more than 3,500 votes.

And he did it by opposing CdeBaca’s call for white small business owners to pay “reparations” to black and brown business owners.

Watson did it by vowing to work with council for the betterment of his community, instead of constantly fighting with everyone at city hall.

And while he and CdeBaca weren’t too far apart on issues of equity and homelessness, Watson still believed residents should be protected from criminals and was willing to fund the police department as opposed to dismantling it.

Some in the establishment media are gob smacked one of their favorite socialists would be defeated, and shared CdeBaca’s delusions of dark forces afoot.

CdeBaca blamed her loss on dark forces “spreading disinformation and weaponizing misogyny and racism” in electing the Black gay man over the Brown lesbian.

“While the overpowering misinformation and anonymity worked to confuse an exhausted electorate this time, we must be more vigilant than ever and demand transparency and openness from your newly elected officials now that the fox is guarding the henhouse.”

“They’ll be expecting a big return on that investment.”

Nothing sadder than a sore loser.

Long live capitalism.
