Some kook mailed 100 letters containing white powder to Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas and lawmakers from several states including Colorado and U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert.

The Wall Street Journal reports the messages were muddled and in different languages. Some read in part “it is important not to choke on your ambition.”

The letters were signed, “Your secret despirer,” whatever the Hell that was supposed to mean.

From the straight-forward Wall Street Journal:

The white powder doesn’t appear to be dangerous, based on initial lab testing, but the discoveries have strained law-enforcement resources and shaken public officials who have received them. The suspicious letters have been discovered in Kansas, Florida, Georgia, Colorado, Montana, Tennessee and Washington, D.C., and come as law-enforcement officials have recently warned of a sharp increase in violent threats against elected officials, judges, election workers and lawmakers.

With Boebert and Thomas leading the news of who has been targeted, there was but a whimper of coverage from the mainstream media who would have immediately declared it a hate crime if Democrats and progressives had been targeted.

The Denver Post is clearly more concerned about the politics of the threat than the actual threat, mentioning Republican or conservative four times in the first four paragraphs of the seven-graph story.

Nothing to see here, we are to assume, but completely acceptable conservative hate.

The Twitter trolls are also happy that those with whom they disagree with politically are getting hate mail laced with an unknown powder that’s designed to terrorize.

PeakNation™ will recall that on the heels of the September 11 terrorist attacks, anthrax -laced letters were sent to members of Congress and the media killing five people and sickening more than a dozen others.

The crimes were linked to a federal government scientist who worked at a biodefense lab, who committed suicide before the FBI could arrest and charge him with the crimes.

Sending powder-laced letters to public officials, whether the substance is harmless or not, is a serious crime and we sincerely hope the FBI gives this investigation more than lip service.

Even Boebert’s opponent agrees it’s serious.
