Protestors got all insurrectiony at the state Capitol this week shouting threats against Jews and taunting Gov. Jared Polis that he can’t hide from the mob.

Polis hasn’t commented on the disruption by the so-called pro-Palestinian protestors.

Nor has the Democrat legislative leadership addressed how they will prevent future disruptions by some of these same protestors, led by state Rep. Elisabeth Epps, who interrupted the special session and shouted down lawmakers from the gallery.

Wait, this just in … House Speaker Julie McCluskie is bowing to yet another pro-Palestinian protestor, state Rep. Tim Hernandez, and will ensure further protest disruptions that erupt into “Peaceful Protests”™ are treated delicately by security.

The purpose of the public gallery above the House floor is to observe legislative proceedings. It’s not for causing a scene, protesting, or a designated safe space to act the fool.

Well, it probably is now, if what state Rep. Tim Hernandez says is true.

By the way, the student was not thrown to the ground, he was carried out by police.

Protestors should not be judged on their cause de jour, but by their actions.

Whether it’s students protesting a school shooting, Palestinians protesting the war they started, or voters claiming a politician cheated in an election. If they are breaking the rules or the law, they should be removed from the protest area and depending on the severity, arrested.

What next? Will lawmakers be asked to leave the chambers while social workers are called into the gallery for “restorative practices?”

Will Speaker McCluskie remove metal detectors and just let progressive protestors sit at lawmakers’ desks to chant about how they should do their jobs?

Polis should add showtimes for Capitol protestors to the state’s new tourism poster that promotes rainbows, ski slopes, and hiking … now with wolves!
